9. Creating artwork

For my game, i created concept art for all the characters that was appearing and i will talk about why i chose, highlighted creative ideas.

The enemies where the hardest to design, and i had tried to grab the accessne of a cartoonish but still realistic sort of outfit for them. It would be a shirt, a dark blue with the opacity turned down, and a protective Armour plate around their torso. They would all wear the same hat, and wear generic trousers (Most likely black or grey, or same as shirt with it being a bit darker). I decided finally, just to have three types of enemies, which you can see above. One is an older man, with a beard, the other is a younger man with long hair, and the last is a young woman. Here is the final designs.

(The middle one is same size as others)

The next was the main playable character, Annie. For her design, i thought it would be best to go down the spy route. But as she is obviously young and cannot gather super, professional gear, she wears a normal jacket with gloves. Her original design was going to have her boots have heeley’s on / wheels, as their is an aspect in game where Annie slides when moving fast. She would also wear a mask, that covered her eyes and a bit more of her face, she would also have short hair with two pony tails at the top. The colour scheme would be dark, as she’s in stealth mode from being a spy. Also, i chose that she would be smiling when being played, as to play in the fact she’s a thief and a spy, so she is a bit devious and smug. Here is the first design.

I believed that the brush i had used was too rough around all the edges, and that the arms were too far down. For the redesign, i wanted her proportions to be normal, and her arms to be about the same length as her torso, or at least go to knees, this design has the arms long enough to drag on the floor. I would also change the colours only a tiny bit, changing the opacity down and changed some colours around. Here is the final design, and the sprite i used for the game.

As you can see, her colours changed quite a lot and her arms were back to normal. She has the smug face i’m talking about, and i closely followed the design process and they’re basically the same.

For my front cover, i wanted a black skyline, with a city behind whilst here it is set on a field and a motorway. It was hard to get the perspectives right, but you can understand what i am exactly going for in the finished process. I also added Annie onto the front cover with her waving and winking towards the player/camera. The text was blue because it contrasted well with the colours around it, and was the easiest to read.

I also drew side art for the website, where i drew a basic skyline but used the same colour for the sky for both pictures so that they can form into one big picture. Here is the website.
